When we say with “real” meat or fish, we mean ingredients that are authentic, wholesome, and genuinely what they say they are. We don’t use vague “meat and animal derivatives” or heavily processed extracts. Instead, we use clear ingredients, so you know exactly which animal protein we use in our recipes. We're all about using real meat or fish, carefully prepared to retain their natural taste and nutritional value.

When we claim “100% natural” this means the recipe is formulated with only natural ingredients.

When we claim “with natural ingredients” this means the recipe is made with natural ingredients such as natural meats, offal, fruits, vegetables and herbs. Not all ingredients are natural though as we’ve added some essential vitamin and minerals.

A gluten-free recipe is thoughtfully formulated to eliminate gluten, a protein commonly found in grains like wheat. For pets with sensitivities or allergies to gluten, these recipes can be wonderfully beneficial, helping them avoid adverse reactions and ensuring happy, healthy mealtimes.

A grain-free recipe is thoughtfully formulated without intentionally added grains. Recipes developed without grains are also typically considered to be gluten-free. This type of diet can be beneficial for pets with grain sensitivities or those who thrive on a diet closer to their ancestral eating habits.

Hypoallergenic means the recipe avoids the ingredients most likely to trigger allergies and/or intolerances, using only a limited set of gentler, more novel protein and carbohydrate sources to reduce the chance of a reaction.

No, we never add any sugar to our recipes! We believe in the power of mother nature and only use the freshest ingredients and a subtle burst of herbs and berries to make our recipes naturally tasty.
Most pet food brands add sugar to their wet food, which dogs and cats definitely don't need. Here’s why: Cats can't even taste sugar! Brands add this to create what's known as the 'Maillard reaction' to increase tastiness through heated processing reactions. We put the health of every pet first, with a wet food that's naturally tasty, contains lots of meat and nutritious offal, but no added sugar or artificial colours and flavours. Because we know your pet is sweet enough.

MSc stands for Marine Stewardship Council. It indicates that the seafood used meets the MSC's standard for environmental sustainability. This means it comes from a well-managed fishery that minimises its impact on the ocean and protects fish stocks for the future.

ASC stands for Aquaculture Stewardship Council. It indicates that the seafood used comes from farms that have been independently certified to the ASC environmental and social standard.

Wild Caught refers to the fact that the tuna we use is captured in its natural environment, and isn’t farmed. We only use MSC-certified tuna, which ensures it comes from a well-managed fishery that minimises its impact on the ocean and protects fish stocks for the future. For the Tuna in sauce recipe, we use Thunnus Alalunga or white tuna.

Lambs that occasionally have access to grass for grazing.

This means the trout was fished in freshwater. We only use ASC-certified trout, which ensures the trout comes from farms that have been independently certified to the ASC environmental and social standard.

Free run – chickens are chickens that roam freely in a barn and are not kept in cages.

The organic logo can only be used on products that have been certified as organic by an authorised control agency or body. This means that they have fulfilled strict conditions on how they must be produced, processed, transported and stored. The logo can only be used on products when they contain at least 95% organic ingredients and additionally, respect further strict conditions for the remaining 5%. The same ingredient cannot be present in organic and non-organic form.

The organic seal can be used to label food and agricultural products that are produced, processed, imported, and traded in accordance with the EU Organic Regulation. These legal provisions ensure compliance with high, uniform standards for organic businesses, which are monitored by organic control bodies. The organic seal therefore represents certified organic production. As a protected trademark, the organic seal can be used alongside the EU organic logo to label organic food products. It indicates that the products have been manufactured in accordance with the EU Organic Regulation.

We look at the whole lifecycle of our products. From farm, to bowl, to waste.

We use the best available data and recognised methodologies to calculate our product carbon pawprints, and we work with external carbon experts, ClimatePartner, to review our approach. We do this to help ensure our calculations are robust and to guide us on where we can reduce emissions.

Carbon pawprint calculations are estimates, so they'll never be perfectly precise but they're a useful way of comparing products, understanding where emissions come from, and sharing the work we're doing to reduce them. We think more businesses should do the same. The more information available, the easier it is for all of us to make informed choices.

So, while we can't promise perfection, we're working hard to lower your pet's carbon footprint compared with conventional pet food - one bowl at a time.

We calculate our product carbon footprints in line with the GHG Protocol Product Standard using a cradle-to-grave Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). That means we look at everything from raw materials and production through to transport and end-of-life impacts.

Our calculations use recognised databases such as Ecoinvent and Agribalyse, alongside product-specific information where available, to give the most representative estimate possible.

And yes, we count the packaging too. 📦
