Our Commitment to Our Furry Friends
At Edgard & Cooper, we're bone-afide pet lovers! Animals lie at the heart of everything we do, from how we test our delicious and nutritious recipes, to the ingredients we source. That's why we're committed to making sure that all our yummy recipes are not only good for them but also mindful of their wellbeing. We follow our Animal Welfare Policy, which helps us do the right thing.
So, What Don't We Do?
We don’t conduct, support, or give the thumbs-up to any kind of invasive animal testing. Nope, not on our watch!
We don't have any testing facilities of our own (except our kitchens at home!).
We don’t work with partners unless their values align with ours.
And What Do We Do?
Taste & Tummies: We focus on making sure our food is tail-waggingly delicious and easy on sensitive tummies. If we involve pets in a test, we only want to know whether they enjoy the taste of our food (palatability) and how well they digest it (we love a good poo check!). We use gentle, non-invasive, ethical methods to ensure our food is nutritious, safe, and enjoyable for pets.
Home is Where They’re Happiest: We prioritise in-home testing because happy pets tell the truth! When we need partners, we prefer those who test pets at home with their families, just like we do.
Ethical Partners: When choosing partners for third party testing, we make sure they're living up to our high animal welfare standards. Members of our pack regularly visit to ensure our commitment to the animals' Five Freedoms are met, including comfortable living conditions, daily exercise for dogs, free-roaming environments for cats, and plenty of interaction with caregivers.
Our In-House Paw-ticipants: Founded by two dogs with excellent taste buds, we now invite our employees' pets to ensure our food is as yummy as we claim. Meeting our quality and safety standards is our top priority. Employees can volunteer to take our latest recipes home for their pets to choose between. We even get videos of their enthusiastic choices! Participation is always 100% voluntary, with no pressure on anyone.
Safety First! Before it even gets to our animal taste-testers, we use the labs of partners who guarantee the safety and top-notch quality of our food. If governmental agencies require animal testing, we only work with trusted third-party facilities that follow our strict animal welfare rules.
We’re always sniffing out the way ahead for new and better ways to ensure our food is delicious, nutritious and considerate.
